Spiced Cranberry Orange Margarita

Thanksgiving and a Crispy Autumn evening deserve a good toast with this easy, yummy cocktail. The Spiced Cranberry Orange Margarita is dressed up with fall flavours.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tequila
  • 2/3 cup Cointreau
  • 1 cup cranberry juice unsweetened
  • 2/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup raspberry syrup or cranberry syrup

Cranberry or Raspberry Syrup

  • 1 cup frozen cranberries or raspberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Garnishes
  • cinnamon sticks
  • fresh orange slices
  • frozen cranberries

Instructions

Homemade Cranberry or Raspberry Syrup

  • In a saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, water, and cinnamon stick.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes until cranberries have burst or raspberries have broken down. Liquid should have thicken slightly.
  • Strain through a fine mesh sieve, discarding solids.
  • Let cool before using in margaritas. Keeps in fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Mix the Cocktail

  • In a large pitcher, combine the tequila, Cointreau, cranberry juice, orange juice, and syrup. Stir or shake until chilled and blended.

Prepare Glasses

  • Rim glasses with cinnamon sugar. Fill with ice.

Pour and Garnish

  • Divide the margarita into 4 glasses. Garnish each with a cinnamon stick, slice of orange and a few frozen cranberries.
  • Sip and enjoy! Serve immediately.
