Smoked Salmon Pastry Twists

This fancy smoked salmon twist freezes perfectly for a bake from frozen moment during your Christmas parties. They are simple but chic. Consider them for either a cocktail party or a brunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg puff pastry thawed but cold
  • 2/3 cup cream cheese
  • 2 Tbsp sour cream
  • 3 Tbsp chopped fresh dill or 1 tsp dried dill
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • freshly ground pepper
  • 150 g smoked salmon thinly sliced
  • 1 egg whisked for egg wash
  • Everything bagel seasoning for garnish

Instructions

Make the Filling

  • In a bowl, mix together; cream cheese, sour cream, dill, lemon zest, Dijon, pepper. Stir until smooth and spreadable.
    Speed cream cheese

Prepare the Pastry

  • Roll our the puff pastry into a 10x14 inch rectangle.
  • Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the entire surface.
  • Lay the smoked salmon slices over half of the pastry only.

  • Fold the empty half over the salmon side to sandwich everything inside.

Cut and Twist

  • Cut the folded pastry into 1/2 inch strips. Gently twist each strip into a spiral. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush with egg wash. Sprinkle with Everything Bagel seasoning.

Freeze for Later

  • Freeze twists on a baking sheet for 2-3 hours or until solid. Transfer to a freezer bag or airtight container. Freeze for up to 3 months.

Bake

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake 15 minutes or until golden, flaky and sizzling. Best served warm.
  • From Frozen: Add 3-5 minutes to cooking time.
