Here are our top things to do that blend, glam, adventure and good bonding vibes all around.

1. Create Custom Lipsticks at the Lip Lab

Kick off your weekend with a little colour! At Lip Lab in Scottsdale, you can mix, melt and mold you own signature lipstick shade with the help of a colour expert. You get to choose your finish; they have traditional lipstick, balms and gloss. You’ll even choose a scent and name your custom colour. It is beauty chemistry meets creative expression. We loved how interactive this was with each other as we rated the colours on our lips and giggled over our fun lipstick names. We ended up with a Sassy Cowboy, Cheetah Gril and Floosy.

My mom always told her grand daughters when they were little and trying her lipstick on “Not too much; you don’t want to look like a floosy”. My lip balm was an hommage to her.

2. Design a Hat You’ll Wear Forever at Rancher Hat Bar( and for sure the rest of the Vacay)

Visit a local hat bar and create your dream custom rancher hat or trucker hat. Also a guided experience with a hat stylist that helps you pull together bands, feathers, charms patches, cards, pins and even burn your initials or a hear into the hat. This is the perfect Southwestern souvenir. We loved Rancher Hat Bar and would highly recommend.

3. Cook Up Some Fun in a Cooking Class

Foodie Friends or Toast Burners alike will love this. Sur La Table offers fun, interactive and approachable cooking classes. I’ve taken many over the years. This trip we did an Italian class. We met great people and had many moments of giggles and bonding. Best of all; going home with a few new kitchen tricks up our sleeves.

4. Speed Things Up at Andretti Indoor Karting

Our family always has the need for speed but I think this is a great out of the box activity for the gals. Get a hit of adrenaline and head to Andretti Indoor Karting and Games in Chandler. There’s high speed go-karts, arcade games and bowling. Great way to spend a couple of hours.

5. Putt Putt

Of course there are a lot of great options for golf in the Phoenix area, but if you’re group isn’t all committed to a real round of golf consider some mini golf. There are some great options that will appeal to everyone and again allow for lots of visiting and giggles. This is a great opportunity to wear matching tshirts or have an outfit theme. Check out

6. Pool Day Paradise

Book a resort day pass (Hotel Valley Ho or The Scott) and enjoy cabanas, cocktails (mocktails for your under 21s) and plenty of sunshine. Matching swimsuits are optional but strongly encouraged. If you decided to air bnb don’t skip the vibe. Plan the day with a fun playlist, some games and have a special themed cocktail.

7. Catch a Ball Game

Check out a Diamondback game at Chase Field. Even your gals that aren’t sports fans will enjoy the fun, extensive snacks and a stadium selfie. This is a classic summer trend.

8. Ride into the Past with a Ghost Tour

Rydables out of Mesa does these crazy fun and novel tours where you ride on cartoon like scooters. You’ll cruise the evening streets on your Day of the Dead themed critter while hearing eerie tales of Mesa. They offer food tours as well.

9. Shop ‘Till You Drop

We spent some time at Scottsdale Fashion Square and also did some vintage hunting. This city has retail therapy down to an art. We also like the outlet mall out at Chandler. Maybe grab something sparkly for the night ahead.

10. Sip Something Sweet at Swig

This viral shop was a must do for us Canadians that don’t have one of these at home. Swig hits the spot with dirty sodas, cookies and cheeky names. Will you try the coconut Dr. Pepper or something custom! Deciding on our drinks and tasting everyone’s choice is an event in itself.

11. Tea Party at The English Rose

Channel your inner Bridgerton with a luxurious high tea at The English Rose in Carefree. Expect floral china, finger sandwiches and a whole lot of pink. Very Instaworthy.

12. Gravity Free Pedicures

Experience a zero-gravity pedicure where you’ll recline, relax and get pampered in a way you never have before. We went to Evolve spa in Carefree and this was the best pedicure I’ve ever had in my life. It included aromatherapy, a head massage. headphones playing soothing instrumental music and warm beanbags. Heaven.

13. Country Night at Buffalo Chip

Dust off your boots, throw on some sparkles and catch live bull riding at the Buffalo Chip Saloon in Cave Creek. You can also catch some line dancing depending on what day you decide to visit. It’s a total country night out – dancing, BBQ and some fun rodeo chaos. All ages are welcome outside of the bar area. While we were in Cave Creek we also checked out the candy store and had some ice cream from The City Creamery.

14. Puppy Yoga

Cuteness overload. Book a puppy yoga class in Phoenix where you’ll stretch with some adoptable pups running around. This is as therapeutic as it gets. Our yoga instructor continually laughed as she reminded us that she was aware we were mostly there for the puppies. The breed of puppies changes every weekend.

15. Stardust Pinbar Speakeasy

The Starudust Pinbar Speakeasy is in the Ziggy’s Pizza joint. Under 21 can enjoy before 8 pm. The entrance is hidden behind a cooler like door and then you’re in a neon fiasco filled with vintage pinball machines. They offer fun eccentric cocktails and mocktails. Plan to order some pizza and their bread knots while you become the pinball wizard.

16. Catch a Flick

Phoenix has some fun an novel options for a movie night. You can end your day with a popcorn and a movie under the stars at Glendale Drive In. It is retro and something lots of people have never done.

If you’ve got some inclement weather or need an option before the sun sets also consider Roadhouse Cinemas. They’re famous for their flavour air popped popcorn. You get a huge refillable bowl for $10 and you can mix your flavours. The seats are all couches that lay back. A push of the button at your seat brings a waitress that will grab all of your necessary snacks.

17. Side by Side and Pie

Enjoy something different and crazy with Arizona Outdoor Fun Adventure and Tours. We signed up for the dusty thrill of driving our own UTV through the stunt Arizona desert. This guided tour took us through rugged terrains, canyons and incredibly scenic vistas. It was definitely adrenaline pumping. Afterwards; stop by Rock Springs Cafe for a piece of their pie. Endless options of pie to choose from cute shopping in their boutique if you need to wait for a table.

Expert Tips and Tricks

  • Try to find a balance of booking activities in advance (especially with groups) and allowing time in your itinerary for spontaneous finds.
  • Bring lots of sunscreen and a cute hat
  • Pack one fancy outfit and a pair of cowboy boots. You’ll probably find a spot where you’re grateful you have them.

Where To Stay

The Scott Resort and Spa

This Havana inspired hotel is our new must stay in the Phoenix area. The value is exceptional. It has a mid century modern elegance mixed with a tropical warmth. The pool is stylish and has a beach party vibe. Our rooms had a mission style decor and the ambiance of the resort is relaxing and chic. We would highly reccomend.
