Gather Around the Flames: A Fall Over-the-Fire Dinner Party
As the last golden days of fall drift into cooler evenings, there’s no better way to celebrate the season than with a dinner party gathered around the fire. Host a casual harvest night or plan an unforgettable Friendsgiving. You’ll find magic in enjoying your friends over the glow of flames, some cozy flavours and rustic elegance.
Why You’ll Love this Gathering
Seasonal: this party captures everything we love about autumn-crisp air, glowing firelight, and cozy vibes.
Memories Around the Fire: These last warm fall days should be spent dining outdoors before winter sets in.
Let’s Set the Scene
Create a vibe or an atmosphere that feels both warm and a little fancy.
Invitations
Lets set the tone with our friends by sending out a warm seasonal invitation. Go with neutral colors so your guests know they’re about to experience an elevated dinner. However, it is also always just as awesome to text your friends a simple “Please come over at 8 to gather around the flames with us for food, fire, and friendship”.
Tablescape
Dress the table with natural linens, ground it with earthy ceramic dishware in soft stone hues. Accent with smoky black glasses, gleaming gold flatware, and wood platters for a rustic-meets-chic.
Choose burgundy and crimson mums in oversized pots. Scatter them all around your dining area but also all over the fire pit.
Create a glow. Mix black iron candleholders, taper candles in lanterns, and strands of fairy lights around the firepit to layer in warmth and sparkle.
Menu full of details. Create a cream colored raw edged menu. Add a stained wood place card with your guest’s name written in gold. This menu is the perfect representation of your vibe; wood with gold and cream; approachable but boujie.

The Apple Cider Cocktail Bar

A highlight of the evening is an interactive Apple Cider Bar. This gives your guests the chance to craft their own cozy and spirited drinks and allows you the time to host. Later in evening change the vibe by heating up the Apple Cider, putt out some mugs and add some Pumpkin Patch Mini Donuts as a garnish.
What You’ll Need
Base: Apple Cider – Make your own; it’s super simple and yummy.

Juices: Cherry, Orange

Foundation of Flavours: The Menu
This menu is designed to be cooked over the flames, a great way to entertain your guests while you cook.
Gather Around the Fire as Your Guests Arrive
It’s always best to have a starter that gives you lots of free time as a host to greet your guests as they arrive. You want your guests to feel welcome and a little bite and a cocktail always accomplishes that. Here’s a few suggestions.
Welcome Drink:
First drink is premade so it is quick to hand to your guests as they walk in the door. We chose something completely different than our Apple Cider Bar for interest.
Savoury but NOT Campfire S’mores: We used mini smore kit’s for couples to roast their cheese over and enjoy a fall charcuterie styled S’more. You’ll Need
- Baby Bell Cheeses
- Crackers, sliced baguette
- Large and Thick Slices of Brie
- Apple Slices
- Farmer’s Sausage
- Pumpkin Jam – Try this recipe – it is amazing
- Grapes
- A little Honey

Fall Flatbread: Diced roasted butternut squash, sage, caramelized onions, Gruyere, and a finish of balsamic drizzle.

Cedar Plank Brie: A wheel of brie cheese cooked on a cedar plank over an open fire. Drenched in a strawberry balsamic glaze.

The Harvest: Main Dishes

Over the Fire is a creative way to celebrate the Fall’s bounty
Flame Kissed Fillets with Port Poached Cherries: Steaks grilled over the fire; sliced and served on a wood plank and finally crowned with a ruby red poached cherry sauce. Serve with a side of roasted potatoes and dill carrots.
Tuscan Ember Sausage Bake: Cast iron sausages roasted with sweet potatoes, carrots, fennel, squash and red onion in a cider mustard glaze. This is easy but full of flavour.
Sweet Finish
Although there will be a pumpkin mini donut later in the evening you always want to finish a meal with a sweet treat.
Cast Iron Chocolate Chip Cookies: These mini cast iron pans are incredibly cute and can be used for lots of things but they go very well with our vibe we’re creating here. Throw a mini scoop of ice cream on top of the warm cookie.

Harvest Orchard Cobbler: Peaches, cinnamon and sugar bubbling over an open flame with crunchy oatmeal topping.

Around the Fire
Warm Apple Cider and Pumpkin Patch Mini Donuts: As your dinner party moves to the fire pit you’ll still want to be hosting. Cue up a playlist of classic 80’s sing along anthems – songs everyone knows by heart. Your guests will have a warm mug of cider in one hand and a pumpkin donut in the other, as the sun goes down and the air gets crisp your fire pit will be surrounded with mums, lanterns and fairy lights. The laughter will flow and the fire’s glow will keep it going.
