The Espresso “Jar”tini was bour from our “Tini Bit Older Party and it’s safe to say – it stole the show and made our lives much easier during the party. The idea? Pre-make your espresso martinis in jars, and when it’s party time; each guest can add their own ice, shake and pour. Or feel free to drink it straight from the jar – No Judgement.

What You’ll Need

You’re going to need your standard espresso martini ingredients for the espresso “jar”tini; vodka, Kahlua, espresso, simple syrup but you’re also going to need some kosher salt. DO NOT USE TABLE SALT. I MEAN IT… DO NOT. You’ll need 4 small mason jars with lids (6-8 oz size)

Ingredients

  • 6 oz vodka
  • 4 oz coffee liqueur – Kahlua
  • 4 oz brewed expresso
  • 2 oz simple syrup (adjust to your taste)
  • a pinch of Kosher salt (trust us)
  • Ice (add just before serving)

Steps

Make the Base – In a large measuring cup combine all of your ingredients except the ice. Stir or Whisk gently to combine.

Measure into the 4 Jars – Using a funnel, pour the mixture evenly into 4 clean jars. ( about 4 oz each)

Seal and Refrigerate – These can be made up to 3 days in advance. Just leave in your fridge until you are ready to serve

To Serve – Add a handful of ice to each jar. Seal and shake well for 20 seconds. Pop the lid and either 1. Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with 3 coffee beans or 2. Sip straight from the jar for a causal party vibe.

How to Make it Truly Awesome – Make sure you use real espresso or a strong cold brew for the best flavour.

Serve it Right Away – Keep your jars in the fridge before hand for extra smooth sipping right out of the jar.

Can I use Instant Espresso – Yes! Just make sure to make it strong and let it cool before mixing

Dairy Free – There is no dairy in this recipe unless you want to add a splash of cream for a twist.

What if I Don’t Have Any Coffee Liqueur? – You can substitute with a chocolate liqueur or a vanilla flavoured liqueur. Or simply just add more espresso and simple syrup.

Can I Double or Triple this recipe? – Of course you’ll want to do this. Scale up your ingredients and use a bigger mixing vessel. Make more or make them bigger whatever suits you.
