Here’s how we crafted an unforgettable soirée that had everyone stirred, not shaken for our 20 year school reunion.

Must Haves – The Party Essentials

The Call to Celebrate – Invitations

We went with something simple and casual so that our guests used this as a clue to what to expect for the evening.

Dress code – If you’ve decided you’d like a costume or dress code with your celebration the invite is where you let your guests know so they have ample time to prepare. This theme lends itself to James Bond formal cocktail attire but we were going for a casual Friday night gathering.

Style The Scene – Decor and Ambiance

Balloon Backdrop: We ditched the traditional balloon arch and opted for a chic balloon backdrop. Balloons remain an affordable way to make a big impact, and arranging them as a backdrop adds depth and flair to your space.

Martini Glass Holder: To elevate our drink presentation, we invested in a martini glass holder from Amazon. This stand not only showcased pre-made welcome drinks beautifully but also added vertical interest to our décor—a win-win!

Color Scheme: We chose a palette of green and pink, accented with touches of gold and black. Incorporating natural elements like baskets and wooden pieces added warmth and texture to the modern theme.

Foundation of Flavours – Sips and Bites

This is the blueprint for a great party.

Sips

Signature Martinis:

Pretty in Pink Martini: A delightful blend of vodka, cranberry juice, and a splash of lime, garnished with a twist.

Espresso “Jar”tini : Perfect for on-the-go mingling, we pre-mixed espresso martinis in mason jars. Our secret ingredient? A pinch of Maldon salt to enhance the rich coffee flavor. Simply add ice, shake, and enjoy straight from the jar or pour into a glass if you prefer.

Bites

Charcuterie Extravaganza: A sprawling charcuterie table complemented the martinis perfectly. We included a variety of cheeses, cured meats, olives, and artisanal crackers. Supply small martini glass for people to put their yummies in instead of a plate.

Martini Cheese Dip: A fun twist on a classic, this appetizer combined cream cheese, olives, and a hint of vermouth, served in a pretty bowl and served with crackers.

’TINI Cupcakes: These adorable cupcakes were decorated to resemble olives, complete with red candy “pimentos.”

’TINI WEENIE Platter: A playful nod to the theme, we served mini sausage rolls—bite-sized delights wrapped in flaky pastry.

Olive Oil Tasting Bar: An assortment of breads accompanied by various flavored olive oils and vinegars allowed guests to mix and match, adding a gourmet touch to the evening.

How To “Tini Cupcake

These adorable ‘tini cupcakes are really easy to decorate to resemble olives.

What You’ll Need
  • mini cupcakes
  • frosting
  • green food coloring
  • red gel frosting or a red candy
  • parchment or wax paper cut into 3×3 squares
Instructions
  1. Bake your favourite cupcake or buy some at the grocery store and scrape off the icing. If you bake them be sure to cool them completely before decoration
  2. Tint Your Frosting Olive Green. Mix green food coloring into your frosting until it resembles the color of a green olive. You may need to add a tiny bit of black or brown coloring to give it a more realistic olive hue.
  3. Frost smoothly Into Olive Shapes. You can just dip your offset spatula into water and smooth the frosting that way. Or lay a square of parchment paper gently over the top of the cupcake. Slowly peel off the parchment paper to reveal a smooth, olive like surface. Tip: Put iced cupcake in fridge for 10 minutes before doing the parchment so it doesn’t stick. For extra “polish” chill them after you’re done and then smooth further with a warm wet spatula.
  4. Create the Pimento. Two different options. 1. You can create a small hole in the icing with the end of a straw or a round piping tip. Fill the indent with red gel frosting. 2. Press a red candy into the center top of the cupcake to mimic the pimento.

Finishing Touches – Activities and Entertainment

Cocktail Trivia: We challenged our guests with fun facts about martinis and cocktail history, sparking lively conversations.

Rhythms to Remember – a Classic playlist of lounge music is a great pair to a martini but if you’re doing a reunion then pair it to the era from your good old days.

Blind Martini-Making Contest: Teams competed to craft the perfect martini without a recipe, leading to creative (and sometimes hilarious) concoctions.

Paint Your Own Martini Glass: A creative station where guests personalized their own glasses, doubling as a memorable party favor.

Photo Opportunities: With our stylish balloon backdrop and themed props, guests captured Instagram-worthy moments throughout the night.

Final Shaken (Not Stirred) Thoughts

Hosting a ’TINI BIT OLDER party was a smashing success, filled with laughter, delicious drinks, and unforgettable memories. With thoughtful planning and a dash of creativity, you can throw a martini-themed event that leaves your guests buzzing long after the last cocktail is sipped. Our biggest tip for success is do as much before the day of the party as you can so you are able to enjoy your hard work as much as your guests during the party. Cheers!
